Your Family’s Christmas Bucket List

Are you ready to check off some boxes? Here are 8 things to add to your Christmas season to make sure everyone is jolly:

1 – Spend more time than money

2 – Pick up a new tradition

3 – Go to a local Christmas Parade and say ‘hi’ to The Light FM!

4 – Get a present for someone who doesn’t expect it

5 – Make a Christmas decorating playlist

6 – Memorize a different part of the Christmas story and tell it together

7 – Make a treat and save extras for the neighbors

8 – Make a birthday cake for Jesus (bonus: you can eat His piece!)

Before Thanksgiving is over, the Christmas season already seems to be in full swing. So instead of being a bah humbug, let’s use that “extra” time making new memories with the people we love.

Start off the season by committing to spending more time than money. It’s so easy to get caught up in the latest influencer trends and what everyone else is posting on social media. Just remember – when we get caught up in what everyone else has and what they’re doing, you’re not present with the people God has put in your real life.

Speaking of spending time, talk to your people about coming up with a new tradition. Maybe it’s driving around with coffee (or hot chocolate) and searching for neighborhoods with the best Christmas lights, or maybe it’s hitting up your local Christmas parade to catch some candy and see The Light FM in the lineup.

Christmas is all about gifts, right? Well…technically, Jesus is the greatest gift ever given, so you could spin it that way. Sometime this season, grab a present for someone who wouldn’t expect to get a gift from you. Find a little something to make someone else smile and let them know that Jesus is the ultimate Giver of all things good.

Make a playlist to help you feel that Christmas wonder – add the worship, the classics and the fun songs to play as you decorate and wrap gifts.

Get each person in your family to memorize part of the Christmas story before Christmas Day. On Christmas Day, take turns reciting your part of the story and share what is most special to you about the accounts of Jesus’ birth!

Do a quick Google search for some tasty treats to make as a family and save some extras for the neighbors, your co-workers (especially if you work at The Light FM) or your child’s teacher. The more sprinkles, the better of course!

Make a birthday cake for Jesus (He probably would like extra cream cheese icing) and take a minute to thank Him for becoming man so we could celebrate His grace and forgiveness!

We can’t wait to hear how you celebrate Christmas this year!

Merry Christmas from The Light FM family!
