Parenting in an LGBTQ+ Culture

“In Jesus, no matter how you were born, you can be born again.” – Clayton King

“The first thing we want to lead with as a parent is love.”

You can love that person and disagree with their lifestyle, but we’re not pretending like that’s an easy thing to do. Clayton King and Doc Maranville had a conversation about raising kids in an LGBTQ affirming culture and how you can encourage them to follow God’s best plan for their lives.

Listen, love, be kind and be clear.

Talking to your child about LGBTQ issues is an opportunity to lean on the Holy Spirt. Pray for boldness and courage, but pray also for wisdom. Our job as Christians is to represent Jesus well.

“Be willing and ready to give an answer when they ask you what you believe and why.” – Clayton King

How to lead as a parent who knows Jesus:
Know what you believe.
Know why you believe it.
Stand Firm.
Don’t give an inch.
Be kind in the way you communicate what you believe.
Let the culture break your heart and live in compassion.

“The last thing a parent should be is silent and passive.”

“When we begin to move the goal post, anything really does go.”
