Shelly Mitchell

My name is Shelly Mitchell. I’ve been doing this radio thing since 1987 (yes, that means I have actually played RECORDS on the air!) I am married to a funny, goofy, kind man named Bryan who loves God and his family, and who’s spent most of our life together (Married in 1990) leading worship at various churches. We have the 3 BEST kids in the world: Rebekah just graduated high school, Emily is a senior, and Benjamin is in 4th grade (2017).

Our family loves music, drama, playing instruments, performing, making each other laugh, and just being on any stage…but we also love Jesus! That’s why for the past 7 years we have been involved with a kids’ ministry called KidzAblaze International. Our kids (and Bryan and I, when we’re able) travel most of the summer, performing for, loving on, and teaching children to use their gifts for God. We’re also very active at our church in Charlotte where Bryan spent the past 4 years as worship leader and has now moved into other ministries that include arts, pastoral care, and seniors … and I joyfully work along side of him in ministry.

As you can tell in this bio that is supposed to be about me … my life is pretty much wrapped up in my family. I also love to sing (I even recorded an album in Nashville when I was 18), watch TV with the hubby (yay for the DVR!), hang out my kids and their friends, and cook.

My favorite scripture is the 139th Psalm. I once sang in front of 22,000 people. I play guitar, drums, piano (a wee lil bit), and my favorite place to be is Holden Beach, NC … with my family, of course. The greatest thing that ever happened to me was the day I surrendered my life to Jesus. God has ALWAYS been faithful to me … and oh, I could tell you some stories! Maybe you’ll hear some from time to time on the air. Now … have I told you about my kids…?
