Love Came Down

Can you believe it? God – the most powerful being in the universe – the One who created it all, is perfectly righteous and is in ultimate control; He became small for you. He could have come a million different ways: in power, in outrage, riding in with the kings of the nations, He could have made a real scene if He’d wanted to. But He didn’t. He came in the only way that would get His point across; He came just like we come. He came small, fragile, cold, and into the hands of people who didn’t have a clue what they were doing. He came just like us because He wants us to become just like Him: love.

The Christmas story is love in motion: God stepping into our world and wrapping Himself in our skin to rescue and redeem us. This week of Advent reminds us that we are seen, known, and so deeply loved. Loved before we came here and loved into eternity because of who God is.

As we prepare for Christmas, may His love move us to love others — generously, patiently, and with joy – in the biggest and in the smallest of ways.

Prayer: Lord, help me to feel your love – to know Your closeness. Remind me of it when I feel alone and overwhelmed. Help me to choose to believe your love will always overcome, and help me to show that same love to others. May the Christmas be the Christmas that I choose to walk with you each and every day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
