Living Your Faith So Your Kids Catch It

Let’s be real—parenting can feel like one long tug-of-war. We want our kids to know Jesus, but it’s so easy to slip into control mode: “Come on, you will go to church. You will read your Bible. You will believe like I do.”

And then… they don’t. Or at least not in the way we imagined.

Here’s the good news: God’s not asking us to control outcomes. He’s asking us to live authentically, to show our kids what a real relationship with Him looks like in everyday life.

Paul reminded Timothy of that kind of legacy:

“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” (2 Timothy 1:5, ESV)

Timothy’s mom and grandma didn’t force him into faith—they modeled it. They prayed. They lived it. They let him see it up close. And God used that.

Girlfriend, that takes the pressure off. Your child’s story is ultimately God’s to write. You just keep walking with Jesus in the ordinary moments—praying in the car, sharing when God answers a prayer, worshiping even when they roll their eyes. Those little seeds matter. And even when it feels like nothing’s happening, you can trust God to water them in His perfect timing.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for loving my kids even more than I can imagine. Help me to stop striving for control and start trusting You with their hearts. Give me courage to live my faith out loud in the everyday, and peace to know that You’re always working—even when I can’t see it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
