Quick Tips in the aftermath of Helene:
- Pray
- Be patient
- Follow curfews
- Don’t drive around
- Bring cash
- Get only what you need
- Look out for others
Pray and be patient – you may have faced devastating loss or you may have minor inconveniences. Whatever the case, may prayer and patience be your first response. It’s important to remember that everyone is dealing with a great amount of stress and may be at their breaking point. This is the perfect time to share the peace of Jesus.
Follow local safety guidelines – Even if you are able to get out, it may not be wise to do so. Unless it’s an emergency, please stay where you feel you are most safe and have resources.
Consider others – We’ve been playing a new song from Phil Wickham on The Light FM, The Jesus Way and it’s a good reminder in uncertain times that we can choose the Jesus way. We can choose to take or we can choose to give. We can choose the Jesus Way. We can choose to be the light, even when we don’t have any power.
Scripture to remember:
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16-17
Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation. Psalm 91:14-16
I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Job 42:2
