It’s summer and the livin’ is easy. Well, maybe not. Summertime might be more like juggling work, child care, day camp, overnight camp and the picture-perfect family vacation that you have to go on because it’s summer and you have to, right? But what if you were to slow down for a moment in order to focus on a mission?
Your Summer Job
Your summer job is actually a 365-day-24/7-rest-of-your-life-calling if you know Christ. But you can start this summer by doing a few things to fuel your faith.
Start by slowing down. Pick up a new Bible study or dive in to a particular book of the Bible that you have been wanting to focus on.
Now, pick up the pace and get in some physical exercise. Turn your attention to the world God has put around you and praise Him for it.
Have fun with the people around you. Spend extra time focusing on growing relationships and cultivating community. Intentionally spending time with others – with the focus on sowing into their spiritual lives and yours – will reap benefits that never go out of season.
Now that we’ve used every gardening reference we can think of, we want to encourage you to take full advantage of the time you’re given in each and every season of life, to set your mind to the task and mission God has for you.
Your job may be to trust God more with your kids, or it may be to learn how to share your faith or it could be to simply spend more time in God’s Word.
Whatever your summer job may be, the payoff will last for eternity.
