Summer is here and it’s time to enjoy God’s creation. The Light FM Crew has put together a list of our favorite spots to visit in The Light FM listening area.

Be sure to check with each location to verify if they’re open, what it hours of operation are, and its response to COVID-19.

North Carolina:

• Rafting or tubing on the Nantahala River
• Hike to Linville Falls and visit to Linville Caverns (NC’s only public caverns)
• Visit Boone, NC (think ziplining, hiking, biking, and kayaking. Also, shopping!)
• Montreat!! Hiking trails, visiting the park, wading in mountain streams, rock hopping, making pottery, fishing or paddle boating in Lake Susan, Friday night barn dances, getting ice cream at the Huck, hymn sings
• Picnic, hiking and biking at Biltmore Estate. This summer’s must-see exhibit is the Chihuly glass sculptures 
• Lazy tubing on Little Pigeon or the French Broad River
• Pisgah Forest in Brevard and fish hatchery
• Grandfather Mountain
• Charlotte Knights baseball – ballgame between the skyscrapers.
• Waterfalls and trails at DuPont State Park between Hendersonville and Brevard.
• Bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail between Greenville and Travelers Rest SC
• Hike Craggy Gardens off the Blue Ridge Parkway
• Putt-putt at the Hendersonville city miniature golf course.
• Tweetsie Railroad
• -Different spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway: Folk Art Center, Moses Cone Manor House, Linn Cove Viaduct, Zeb Vance Birthplace
• Sliding Rock in Pisgah Forest. This is always a favorite, and at only $2, it’s a winner for family fun!
• WNC Nature Center in Asheville

South Carolina:

• Greenville Zoo

Tennessee:

• Hiking trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park
• Clingman’s Dome
• Cades Cove
• Museum of Appalachia
• Visiting Mayfield Dairy Farm and tour ice cream factory
• Wilderness in the Smokies
• Watts Bar Lake
• Fort Loudon Lake
• Clinch River
• Melton Hill Lake

Virginia:

• Bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail (Abingdon, VA)
