Everything Is Going to Be OK

Trusting that God’s will is the best thing for you isn’t easy. For some reason, humans have a tendency to want our own will above God’s – and we want His will to fit perfectly into the box we have created for it.

In the Gospel of Mark (chapter 9) a father met Jesus and asked Him to heal his son who had been demon possessed since he was a child. This father believed that Jesus could help his son, but at the same time, he wasn’t sure. It’s okay to admit to God that you want to trust Him, but you’re not all the way there yet. “I believe, but help my unbelief! (Mark 9:24).

It’s easy to say that you trust God, but when it comes down to it – when you have no plan B – do you really trust Him? Open the Bible to literally any page and you’ll find people going through seemingly hopeless situations with a steady faith in God.

Take a look at your own life and what you’ve been through. God was right in the middle of it – whatever it was. Maybe He was there for you when your pregnancy ended too soon, when your marriage became too hard or when you lost your job. You’ll find that He is always faithful, but you will also find that His answers may be quiet, the goodness may take a while to see and the outcome may not be what you had planned.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

If you’ll take this Scripture at its word, you will eliminate doubt that God’s will is the best thing for you. “And we know.” It’s not an “I’ve heard” or an “I think” statement. It’s a statement full of confidence in God’s will for the believer. It’s God’s will for all (count ‘em with us – A L L) things to work out for the good of His people.

Cling to this: “Oh, the depths of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” Romans 11:33

4 Steps to Help Strengthen Your Faith

1: Talk to God about it. Don’t lie to Him about where you are, He already knows. Tell the Lord that you’re scared to trust Him sometimes and ask Him to help you believe.

“The Lord—knows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.” Psalm 94:11

“If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14

2: Open your Bible.  You will find story after story of God’s faithfulness. He can’t be anything but faithful.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” Numbers 23:19

“The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13

3: Talk to a friend about it. Find another believer who you can open up with. Be honest about your struggles and allow them to pray with you and speak God’s Word into your life.

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

4: Journal. Write out your worries, fears, questions and prayers. Then record your hope, answers and how God destroys your doubt. You’ll have this to look back on when you forget to remember His faithfulness.

“Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD…” Psalm 102:18
