In a world with a lot of misinformation, tragedy and all-around discouragement, we have to know what God’s Word says. More than that, we have to believe it. Here are five truths from God’s Word to help settle your mind and give you a better foundation for your daily life.
Life is not up to you
On one hand, you know it’s true. But on the other hand, are you living in that reality? Life isn’t about you – you aren’t the point. God is. When we think about that truth and recognize that life is actually about God and His glory, that takes a lot of pressure off of our own selves.
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
God will never change
Phew. God doesn’t change. That means He won’t change His mind and take back His promises. He is steadfast and faithful. You don’t have to guess with God. You can know exactly where you stand with Him. No take backs.
“For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6
You are chosen
When God made you, He chose you. He had a specific purpose in mind when He made you – to know Him and to bring others to Him by using you just the way He made you!
“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 14:2
Nothing can make God love you less (or more)!
This is good news because that means that God’s love isn’t up to us. We’re loved and we can be completely secure in that love.
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
The Lord goes before you
Life can be really hard. But take heart knowing that God has already been there. He goes before you and He holds your future.
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
