A trip to the ER

Our day started at the doctor’s office with pink eye…but, I didn’t earn my newest parenting stripes until after bedtime. My 4 year old got a Polly Pocket shoe stuck up her nose. We tried everything but weren’t able to retrieve the doll’s pink pump.

So…..off to the emergency room we go. Most kids would have been freaked out. Not mine. It was like a huge field trip! “We are going to stay up all night long!!!” she said. Hard to believe she knew nothing about the ER but sensed that we might be there awhile.

We settled into a room and occupied her with games until we could be seen. About an hour into the visit…still no doctor. But, she did take a nasty sneezing fit that produced our pink Polly Pocket pump. Crisis averted. All is well.

Mom does have a few more grey hairs…but, isn’t that’s what parenting is all about anyway???

Would love to hear your story!!! Your kid has done this right?????????

HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

  1. My youngest put a little jingle bell up his nose, maybe about 6 years old (he’s 19 now). I was wondering why he & his sister were playing so quietly. Off to the ER. He said maybe we could just leave it there and “whenever I do this (shakes his head) the bell will ring”.

  3. Girl…one day, you’ll be like me – looking at your little girl who is turning 17 today. You’ll wonder where the time went and laugh at the things that make you cry and pull your hair out today. One day, maybe like me, your little girl will look down on you (because she is almost 6′ tall) but look up to you because you have become her hero. I believe it with all my heart, Carol. You are a good mom!

  5. My daughter had a pinto bean in her nose and I didn’t know it for a couple of days. We went to doctor for a regular visit and she too sneezed and out came this horrendous looking thing. Scared the liver out of me. Older children were watching her (supposed to be) while I was at choir practice. My sentiments to you at this time.
